2017

In response to a questionnaire from the League of Women Voters of Dane County, Parisi listed the following projects as priorities in 2017:[4]

  1. In 2017 we’ll begin a 4 year project to remove phosphorus-laden muck from 33 miles of streams that feed directly into our lakes. When completed, this project will have removed 840,000 lbs. of phosphorus (the main cause of lake-fouling algae) from our watershed.
  2. While others deny the science, causes and impacts of climate change, Dane Co. is creating the Office of Energy and Climate Change in the county executive’s office. This office will lead efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prepare for the impacts of our changing climate.[5]

He also told the League of Women Voters that he would help increase access to affordable housing in the county by extending an existing partnership with the City of Madison to construct supported housing facilities for chronically homeless individuals, working with local nonprofits to develop supported housing for formerly incarcerated individuals and individuals with mental illness, and providing housing assistance services via a new homeless day resource center.[4]
