Biography

Joseph Patrick Murphy was born in Abington, Pennsylvania. Murphy's professional experience includes working as an attorney. He earned a bachelor's degree from Stockton State College in 1993 and a J.D. from Duquesne University Law School in 1998.[1]

Murphy has been affiliated with the National Rifle Association, Ancient Order of Hibernians, Sons of the American Revolution, Roman Catholic Church, and Millvale Sportsmen's Club.[1]

I am 51 years old, from Pine Township, Pennsylvania. I am a Roman Catholic, Husband, and Father. I have been a lawyer in private practice for over twenty years. Before I entered Private Practice, I interned on the Pa. State Supreme Court.
a Legacy of Humility, Modesty and Discipline
I worked two jobs most summers. I worked in a boatyard and also washing dishes in a restaurant.
A judge must be humble, fair, patient, and obedient to the Law
There are many judges whom I admire. I admired Judge Wettick's predictability and ability
A Judge should certainly have SYMPATHY - an understanding of what the litigants are going through and how that may affect them and how they behave. Empathy is feeling what someone else feels, I am not sure that it is a good idea for a judge to feel the dame things that the litigants feel.
No, these ratings are highly influenced by politics and have not correlated with judicial performance or behavior.
