Joseph Raffiani (Democratic Party) was an officeholder of the Billings Public Schools Board of Trustees District 4 in Montana. Raffiani assumed office in 2014.

Raffiani (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Billings Public Schools Board of Trustees District 4 in Montana. Raffiani won in the general election on May 5, 2015.

Raffiani was first appointed to the board on October 20, 2014.[1] Raffiani served as the Eastern District Male Chair of the Montana Democratic Party from March 2011 to July 2013, but his position on the Billings Board of Trustees was nonpartisan.[2]

Joseph Raffiani is a resident of Billings, Montana. Raffiani earned a B.A. degree in Native American studies from Rutgers University at New Brunswick and his J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law. Since 2008, he has owned and operated his own law practice, the Raffiani Law Firm.[2]

The election in Billings featured four of the nine seats on the board up for general election on May 5, 2015.

Both District 4 incumbent Joseph Raffiani and District 5 incumbent Rob Rogers ran unopposed and won re-election to their seats. Raffiani won a full three-year term, and Rogers won an unexpired one-year term. Newcomer Mike Leo also ran unopposed and won the vacant District 6 seat.

No candidates filed to run for the High School District A seat, which left it open to a write-in candidate. In April 2015, both Gordon Klasna and Jeff Simkovic registered to run as write-in candidates for the seat. Klasna defeated Simkovic to win the only contested seat in the election.

Results

Incumbent Joseph Raffiani ran unopposed and won the District 4 seat by default.

Funding

Raffiani reported no contributions or expenditures to the Montana Commissioner of Political Practices during the election.[3]

Endorsements

Raffiani did not receive any official endorsements during the election.
