Joseph H. Rodriguez is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Rodriguez is a judge serving on senior status.

Early life and education

A native of New Jersey, Rodriguez graduated from LaSalle University with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and later graduated from Rutgers University School of Law with his Law degree in 1958.[1]

Professional career

Rodriguez spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a Private practice attorney licensed in the State of New Jersey from 1959 to 1982. In addition to his private practice work, Rodriguez served as Chairman of the New Jersey State Board of Higher Education from 1971 to 1973 and Chairman of the New Jersey State Commission of Investigation from 1974 to 1979. Rodriguez also worked as a Public advocate/public defender for the State of New Jersey from 1982 to 1985.

Judicial career

District of New Jersey

Rodriguez was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on February 28, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress. Rodriguez was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 3, 1985 on a senate vote and received commission on May 10, 1985. Rodriguez later assumed senior status on May 22, 1998. Rodriguez was succeeded in this position by Faith Hochberg.
