Collapse all
|- The General Assembly must lead by example. I will write a bill that strengthens our ethics laws on day one, increasing the waiting period to become a lobbyist after leaving office and allowing the inspector general to subpoena elected officials without permission.
- Our prison system does not nearly enough to rehabilitate offenders. The state takes on excessive costs housing returning prisoners. We need to invest in in-prison education that allows every prisoner to take classes toward an associate's degree while in prison. Those that enroll in these courses have a 40% lower chance of recidivism. I will write this bill in the first year of office.
- Obstructive zoning laws impede on the ability to build multiunit housing, and as a result we see higher rents and home costs across the state, particularly in Chicago. I intend to eliminate single family zoning laws across the state to increase housing substantially and allow more options at lower costs for all.
