Two of the five seats on the Charlotte County Public Schools Board of Education were up for by-district primary election on August 30, 2016. Kim Amontree defeated fellow newcomers Robert Dolar and Joseph Williams for the District 2 seat. Wendy Atkinson won the District 5 seat in the primary against David Morris.[1] The District 3 seat was originally set to be on the ballot, but when incumbent Bob Segur was unopposed in his bid for re-election at the passing of the filing deadline, the election for the seat was canceled and Segur was automatically re-elected.
