Josephine Layne Buckner
Josephine Layne Buckner is a judge of the Kentucky 30th District Court 12th Division. She assumed office in 2021. Her current term ends on January 4, 2027.
Buckner ran for re-election for judge of the Kentucky 30th District Court 12th Division. She won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
Buckner was a 2015 candidate for the 30th District Court in Kentucky.[1][2] She also ran for the 30th District Court in 2014.[3] On August 20, 2021, Buckner was appointed by Governor Andy Beshear (D) to the Kentucky 30th District Court 12th Division, to replace Eric Haner.[4]
Biography
Josephine Layne Buckner earned a B.A. in English literature from the University of Louisville in 1996 and a J.D. from Northern Kentucky University—Salmon P. Chase College of Law in 2004. Buckner's career experience includes working as an assistant county attorney with the Jefferson County Attorney's Office in Kentucky and as a domestic violence advocacy program director with the Legal Aid Society of Louisville, Kentucky.[5]
