|Prior to taking the bench I served as a felony prosecutor. I prosecuted some of Hamilton County's most dangerous violent offenders and took them off the streets. I also served as Law Director for the City of Norwood from 2012-2015, providing legal counsel as the city's Chief Legal Officer.
Since 2012, I have served as a member of the Hamilton County Law Library Resource Board, overseeing the library at the Courthouse, which was founded in 1834.
I am a devoted husband and a proud father of three. I have lived in Municipal Court district 4 with my family for more than 15 years. I am active in my church and my children's school and extracurricular activities.
It is an honor to serve as your judge. My pledge to you is equal justice under the law, to treat people fairly, and to keep our community safe by holding dangerous criminals accountable & delivering justice for crime victims. I am honored to ask for your vote for re-election.- I follow the law and uphold the constitution. Every case and every individual who comes before the court is unique. I do not make up the law or impose my concept of what I think the law should be or twist the law to reach a preferred outcome. Rather, I apply the law to the facts and evidence at issue in an evenhanded, consistent, and transparent manner, so that all parties understand the court's decisions and feel that they received a fair trial.
- I treat people fairly and I do the job efficiently. People who come to court, whether by choice or not, deserve to have their cases resolved efficiently and fairly. Everyone is entitled to their day in court and every case is unique. I do not continue cases unnecessarily and I work hard to resolve cases in a timely manner, without unnecessary delay or repeated continuances.
- I hold dangerous criminals accountable and deliver justice for the victims of crime. As a former felony prosecutor, I understand what's at stake in the decisions I make each day. I have been consistent in applying the law in a firm but fair manner, so that everyone concerned feels they received a fair hearing. I work hard each day to protect the public, to deliver justice for victims, and to keep our community safe.
Ohio judges are required to consider public safety when setting bonds or imposing sentences. I am proud of my record of sound judgement and consistent principles. Public safety is non-negotiable. Everyone wants and deserves a safe community, regardless of what neighborhood they live in.
1. Follow the law & uphold the constitution; Consistency is key. A judge who reliably applies the law as written is predictable, which allows counsel to do their jobs and advise their clients effectively.
2. Treat people fairly & do the work efficiently; Municipal Court is a high volume court. More than 100,000 cases are filed in our court each year, divided among 14 judges. Respect for the individuals involved in a case - whether as defendants, victims, witnesses, attorneys, or jurors - is essential. Everyone deserves their day in court and to have their case resolved fairly & efficiently, without undue delay. Unnecessary continuances frustrate justice by adding time and expense to an already difficult and stressful situation.
