|focusing on public safety, building community unity and striving to provide a better future for all Lexingtonians and businesses. Outside of serving on the City Council, McCurn is a Realtor who understands the growing needs of Lexington, especially as they pertain to businesses and affordable housing. After graduating from West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in political science, McCurn found a home in Lexington where he and his wife, Paige, raise two boys, Adam (11) and Chase (6). McCurn serves on several boards and commissions, focusing on youth advocacy, veteran affairs, and budget and finance. He also serves on his children’s PTAs and as a youth soccer coach and mentor.
Through his first two terms in office, McCurn’s focus has remained on getting a handle on crime and supporting public safety. McCurn has created transparency in his district by hosting forums, town hall meetings, input sessions and frequenting community events. He continues to help the business community address issues surrounding safety, access, growth and advocacy. In seeking re-election, McCurn remains focused on providing a safe city in which to live, work, learn and play. He continues to advocate for a long-term vision for Lexington that includes keeping and bringing jobs to the city.

- Lexington is a community where I want you to work, play, learn, and live. Every culture and background is welcome in Lexington and ensuring that the needs of the community are met, especially with affordable housing, is vital to the growth of our city.
- Building a stronger, more unified Lexington has been a passion of mine before running for office. Building bridges and tearing down divisions, we are a community as a whole and need the opportunity to understand our neighbors. Focusing on Lexington as one and providing those opportunities is a goal I will strive to continue seeing happen.
As a father of two, I strive every day to be as active and engaged, as my parents were. By coaching and mentoring both of their teams, being involved with their PTA/PTSA, and guiding them through everyday challenges, all the while remaining active and community driven to see that Lexington's future is bright and filled with opportunities.
I feel it is important to know the needs of the community and their priorities before running for office.

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
Public Safety- Working to improve the quality of life in each neighborhood by focusing on crime and drug/opioid issues in our community. I will work to highlight recourses and programs, like OneLex, DrugFreeLex, and more, that focus on bringing awareness, prevention, and knowledge. I will fight to provide the necessary means for our police officers to have different models of policing and a stronger presence throughout not only the district, but all of Lexington. Economic Development- As a small business owner, I understand the importance of working with my neighbors and being involved in the community. I will work with businesses to highlight what makes Lexington the best place to move their work and families here and I will focus on our current companies and the importance of why Lexington is the place to stay and expand. I will work with businesses in the district to recognize them in the community and provide opportunities for neighbors to meet their local establishments and what they do. Community- Lexington, and more in particular District 2, is full of amazing people with great ideas and wanting to better their neighborhoods and surrounding communities, and I believe this begins with a hands on approach. Working with each community to improve communication with our local government and the surrounding neighborhoods, allowing doors to be opened and for us to learn from each others areas of opportunities and strengths. I believe in working side by side with my neighbors (volunteering, hosting events, creating discussions) to improve our parks, our schools, our homes and to embrace diversity and inclusion. As Councilmember, I will hold neighborhood forums to ask questions, understand what is going on in Lexington and the district, and to meet with other community activists. My door is always open and I will work to better our community for all.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate on policies dealing with affordable housing, job creation, public safety, and transportation. I believe these are areas that have a significant impact on our daily lives and need to be focused on as Lexington continues to grow and change.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
I look up to the public servants who do not lose sight of why they ran for office in the first place. Those who continue to give back to their communities, continue to hold connections with those they have meet, and are always looking to make a positive difference in their district.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
I believe that there are many traits that public servants should have- Honesty, humility, respect, leadership, community-involved, open lines of communication/responsive, and hardworking. These characteristics make up someone who is willing to work to make a difference while staying engaged with their community and who will respond back to their fellow neighbors with an honest answer. These are traits that I am proud to follow and take into office with me.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I take pride in being responsive and honest community-leader that is willing to be hands on making a difference. I have open lines for communication and I'm approachable for your questions, concerns, or ideas. I am not afraid to stand up for the values of the 2nd district or to stand alone when it comes to doing what is right for those I represent.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To fight to improve Lexington as a whole while always putting the 2nd District at the forefront of the conversation. It is crucial to stay in touch with the different neighborhoods and be involved in more than semi-annual meetings, but to engage with businesses, community events, and continuously work to improve the quality of life for all.
What legacy would you like to leave?
My legacy would be to leave a pathway for our children, our future leaders, that is paved to success and open opportunities for all.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
I remember the inauguration of Bill Clinton in 1993. This brought me to a greater understand of the political system, through questions, at a young age.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I held a paper route position with the "Midweek" newspaper for 6 years beginning when I was 8.
What is your favorite thing in your home or apartment? Why?
My family is the absolutely best part about being home. I love coming home to an amazing wife who shares a lot of the same passions as me, and two boys who are full of energy, love, and excitement. I proudly say that they are the reason I work hard to make a difference.

McCurn submitted the following campaign themes through Ballotpedia’s biographical information submission form:
“ |
As District 2's Councilman, I plan to work closely with our local police and community to unite our neighbors and mentor our youth, to partner with the public schools and create programs inspiring and leading students, and work towards legislation that brings jobs back to a safer, cleaner Lexington. Councilman is a position that works for the people as a representative that is responsive, transparent, and provides open communication with the community. Someone who listens to the needs of neighborhoods and the district and promptly responds with action and solutions. Our community is deserving of a representative that is involved and easily accessible. As your Councilman, I will effectively demonstrate transparency and open communication while continuing to fight for a safer place for our families and friends. [4] |
