Josh Stokes is a dedicated father, successful businessman, national award-winning attorney, and community leader who has a proven record of serving our neighbors, creating and protecting local jobs, and managing budgets. Beginning in August 2014, Josh was elected to serve the residents of the Town of James Island as a member of the Town Council. As the council liaison to the Town of James Island Children's Commission, Josh was instrumental in establishing several new annual events including the Town of James Island's Christmas Tree Lighting, Lights On! After School, and Easter Egg Roll. Josh also served as the Chair of the Town's first drainage committee while working to address flooding and drainage issues throughout James Island. Josh served on Town Council for the Town of James Island from August 2014 through November 2019. Josh and his three energetic children live on James Island, all of the children attend James Island public schools, and the family attends James Island Presbyterian Church.
  • I will work to preserve and protect our environment and natural resources.
  • I will work to support and fully fund our public schools and limit government bureaucracy and wasteful spending that prevent our tax dollars from making it to our classrooms and teachers where it is needed the most.
  • I will work to protect your tax dollars and make sure your money is spent wisely. I will also work to promote and bolster the Lowcountry's economy, and South Carolina's economy as a whole, as we continue to deal with the impacts and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
As mentioned above, I am passionate about protecting and preserving our natural resources, supporting and appropriately funding our public schools, protecting your tax dollars, and bolstering our economy. As can be seen through my previous service on Town Council for the Town of James Island, I am also passionate about a proactive approach to addressing flooding and drainage issues throughout SC House District 115 by way of completing much-needed delayed maintenance and fast-tracking the necessary improvement and expansion of our aging infrastructure. SC House District 115 is made up of four islands, flooding, drainage, and ease of access to our islands should be a primary concern for all citizens in District 115.
