Campaign themes
2016
White's website highlighted the following campaign themes:
Environment
- Excerpt: "We have many locations in the Highlands that could be great for solar energy production-- large open roofs at the Kroger, CVS, and Mid-City Mall to name a few. Parking lot solar farms, rooftop solar farms, and Land-Art-Generators can be used to maximize flat open areas and improve our quality of life. Implementing solar will provide jobs, decrease consumption of fossil fuels, and lead to a more sustainable Highlands."[2]
Term limits
- Excerpt: "Fight to implement a three-term lifetime limit (12 years max) for the Metro Council of Louisville and the Mayor."[3]
Education
- Excerpt: "The Metro Council doesn’t have a direct involvement with budgeting for our schools or educators but there are still many instances that the Council can affect a child’s capacity to get a good education. I will take every opportunity to increase the marginal success of our future workers and thinkers through my position. It will be the first thing on my mind as I address and approve the city’s budget each year."[4]
Infrastructure
- Excerpt: "It’s a tragedy that many of our sidewalks are in such poor shape; Sidewalks on some streets are so badly cracked, you have to walk in the roads to get from place to place. Sadly, the network of sidewalks is also incomplete, where a length of sidewalk terminates randomly here and there. Damaged sidewalks are not just an eyesore, they are a safety hazard and fixing them must be a top priority."[5]
