|Joshua’s upbringing and early encounters with the harsh realities of poverty ultimately shaped his perspectives on race, economics, and the intricate connections between US foreign and domestic policy and the systemic injustices plaguing the nation and the world. The bedrock of his advocacy work is an unwavering focus on the concerns and needs of working people and a strong belief that real power lies in the collective voice and actions of the working class.
After attending Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, Joshua returned to Louisville in 2019. Soon after, he became involved with the Sunrise Movement, a group that draws attention to the climate crisis and advocates for a Green New Deal. Later, he joined the Democratic Socialists of America, furthering his commitment to the working people of Louisville.
A proud Teamster and UPS worker, Joshua is a labor organizer with the Futures Committee for Teamsters Local 89.
Joshua is also a classical pianist.- Affordable Housing, NOT Developer Handouts:
We can't afford to continue living in a city run at the whims of developers while our communities suffer. It's time to prioritize community well-being over corporate handouts.
I will work to end the trend of TIF (Tax Increment Fimancing) corporate giveaways so those resources can go toward public health, municipal grocery stores, libraries, and social services. - Fund Public Services, not JUST Police: We are witnessing the disastrous effects of Louisville city budgets that have for too long starved our crucial public services like libraries, public transit, parks, community centers, and swimming pools. I will work to fix and restore our public services and to build a sustainable, climate-resilient future for our city.
- Good Jobs are Union Jobs: The quickest way to economic security is a good job that pays well, and good jobs aren't created out of thin air, they are fought for by workers. I will champion policies that empower workers, ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions, and defend the right to organize.
