I’m Joshua Bowman, a lifelong Chicagoan, proud husband, and dedicated neighbor who believes in the power of community. I grew up on the northwest side of Chicago in a big family,I’m one of eight siblings, where my dad worked as a CTA bus driver for over 30 years. Growing up in a working-class household, I learned the values of hard work, resilience, and looking out for those around you.

After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from DePaul University, I built my career in residential property management, helping people find and maintain stable housing. For the past 5 years, I’ve served as a Senior Operations Manager at Docusign, where I lead a team of 16 people, focusing on efficiency, problem-solving, and delivering results.

In 2021, my wife Eloisa and I moved to Berwyn, drawn to its strong sense of community and hardworking residents. We live here with our American Akita, and every day I’m reminded why we chose this city as our home. Outside of work, I’m an avid runner and have completed five marathons, including the Chicago Marathon three times, running teaches me discipline, perseverance, and the importance of pushing forward even when things get tough.

At the end of the day, I’m running because I care. I know what it’s like to work hard, to want better for your family, and to be frustrated when leadership doesn’t listen. I believe Berwyn deserves an alderman who is present, who communicates, and who puts people first.
  • I will fight to regulate the unchecked expansion of gaming establishments that have flooded our neighborhoods, disproportionately impacting Latino and working-class families. I will push for stricter zoning laws, a cap on new licenses, and increased transparency on gaming revenue to ensure it benefits the community. Berwyn deserves responsible development that supports small businesses, public safety, and residents, not just gaming operators.
  • I will make City Hall more transparent and accountable to residents. That means pushing for easier access to financial reports, meeting minutes, development plans, and spending data so you know where your tax dollars go. I will also eliminate unnecessary FOIA roadblocks and advocate for participatory budgeting, ensuring residents have a real voice in local decision-making.
  • I will end the silence and make communication a top priority. I will hold regular ward meetings, provide timely updates through newsletters and social media, and be available to hear your concerns. Residents shouldn’t have to guess what’s happening in their own neighborhood. I will ensure you are informed, engaged, and heard.
I am passionate about reining in unchecked gaming expansion and increasing transparency at City Hall. Gaming establishments have flooded our neighborhood with little oversight, disproportionately impacting Latino and working-class families. I will push for stricter zoning, licensing caps, and greater accountability on where gaming revenue is spent. Residents also deserve full transparency in city decisions, not closed-door deals. I will fight for easier access to financial reports, clear communication on spending, and a government that truly serves the people and not special interests.
An elected official must lead with integrity, accountability, and a genuine commitment to putting people first. Leadership isn’t about power, it’s about serving others with honesty, fairness, and transparency. That means listening to residents, making informed decisions based on their needs, and always acting in the best interest of the community, not personal or political gain. Ethics matter. I believe in doing what’s right, even when it’s not easy or politically convenient. Public trust is earned through honest communication, accessibility, and a willingness to stand up for what truly benefits the people even when it's not politically convenient.
In 2016, my mom suffered a severe stroke that left her permanently disabled, forever changing her life and ours. Navigating the challenges of post-stroke care for my mom, supporting my dad as her primary caregiver, and witnessing the struggles of our healthcare system shaped me into the man I am today. It taught me perseverance, resilience, and the deep responsibility to care for others, no matter the challenge.

She is my why. She’s the reason why I challenge the status quo, push for transparency, and advocate for a community that asks questions instead of sitting silently.
Yes, one little-known but significant power of the mayor is that they also serve as Liquor Commissioner and have the sole authority to approve all gaming licenses, bypassing City Council. This means that despite concerns from residents and alderpersons, gaming expansion can continue unchecked without broader oversight or public input.

This lack of accountability is a major issue. I believe gaming and liquor licensing decisions should not rest in the hands of one person. If elected, I will advocate for more transparency, council involvement, and public input in these approvals to ensure decisions benefit our community, not just special interests.
I believe financial transparency and government accountability should be the foundation of City Hall, not an afterthought. Residents deserve clear, timely, and accessible information about how their tax dollars are spent and the decisions that impact their daily lives. I will advocate for over-communication and over-sharing, ensuring financial reports, budgets, and development plans are easily available.
