Jovita Carranza
Jovita Carranza served as the 26th chief of the U.S. Small Business Administration. She was a member of President Donald Trump's (R) administration. She left office on January 20, 2021.[1]
Carranza was confirmed as the 26th chief of the Small Business Administration by a vote 88-5 on January 7, 2020. Jovita replaced Linda McMahon, who stepped down to chair the America First Action PAC.[2][3]
The administrator of the Small Business Administration is responsible for overseeing the programs that assist small businesses in obtaining loans and loan guarantees, as well as contracts, counseling sessions, and other forms of assistance.[4]
Biography
At the time of her confirmation, Carranza was serving as the treasurer of the United States. She was appointed to this position by President Trump and assumed office on June 19, 2017. Carranza founded the supply-chain management company JCR Group. She also previously served as the deputy administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration in the administration of former President George W. Bush.
Carranza earned her M.B.A. from the University of Miami. She also trained at the INSEAD Business School in Paris, France; Michigan State University; and the University of Chicago.[5]
