Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
| “
I will be honest I am not sure that I have that one example to give. I admire strong women who show courage everyday in the face of adversity and challenges. I strive to follow the example of those who strong yet have a compassionate heart.[3]

It is our charge to ensure the students and staff have what is needed for our students to meet the challenges of future success in our world through programs and facilities while still remaining fiscally responsible.[3]

”
What legacy would you like to leave?
| “

I hope that the legacy I leave behind is just that I served and our schools succeeded.[3]
”
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
| “
Neil Armstrong Walked on the Moon. I remember it being a big deal and we talked about it in school and at home and at girl scouts. I was 7 at the time.[3]
”
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
| “
I started my first job cleaning at a boarding house that my neighbor owned. She hurt her back and needed help cleaning the rooms. I made beds, emptied trash cans, dusted, and cleaned bathrooms for a whopping .50 cents a day. I was 9 and supervised. The arrangement changed later but I continued until I was 16 and she passed away.[3]
”
What is your favorite holiday? Why?
| “
I guess my favorite is Christmas. So many things to do and see and watching the kids and their excitement. My grandmother always made it so special and we would have a ton of family and friends over.[3]
”
What is your favorite book? Why?
| “
Oh the places you'll go. I think the symbolism behind those words says it all. Each year I give a copy to a student just to let them know that their are always possibilities no matter what obstacles they face.[3]
”
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
| “
Oh, maybe Samantha from Bewitched. (I know I just dated myself) then I could just wiggle my nose and my house would always be clean. No really, Wonder Woman.[3]
”
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
| “
Extraordinary by Mandi Moore.[3]
”
What is the primary job of a school board member in your view?
| “
Listening to the community and understanding what is needed to ensure forward movement of the district programs, facilities, and policies.[3]
”
Who are your constituents?
| “
Parents and families.[3]
”
How would you support the diverse needs of your district’s students, faculty, staff, and community?
| “
Taking the time to attend the many schools in the districts meetings, events, and interacting whenever possible with the groups that represent these diversities. Being available to them to listen and understand each of their differences and challenges.[3]
”
How will you build relationships with members of the broader community? Which groups, organizations, stakeholders will you specifically target?
| “
I would reach out and support in any way possible the Parent organizations specifically PTAs and Booster/ Support Groups. Seeking opportunities within our communities to get to know our families better would be another way.[3]
”
What will you do to build a better relationship with parents in the district? What plans do you have to be inclusive of parental involvement?
| “
I will continue to be an advocate for PTA's. These are some of the most active and knowledgeable parents in our district. Attending events and leaving the lines of communication open to all parents will be valuable in building parental relationships.[3]
”
Do you believe it is important to intentionally recruit with the aim of diversifying the district’s faculty, staff, and administration? If so, what would be your policy to achieve this?
| “
I do think that we need to insure that we are well rounded and diverse but I also feel that the first and foremost responsible thing is to hire the best educators and staff.[3]
”
What constitutes good teaching? How will you measure this? How will you support advanced teaching approaches?
| “
Good teaching is when the students are engaged and learn without knowing it. Projects, presentations, and unfortunately tests will measure what is learned.[3]
”
What type of skills should students be learning for success in the 21st century?
| “
Technology, technology, technology. We also have an obligation to teach students skill sets that will allow them to enter the work force out of high school. There is a place for the skilled workers as well as the highly trained. Not every student will go to college and we need to insure that every student is future ready whether it is for college or for the immediate workforce.[3]
”
In what areas would you like to expand curriculum? For example, do you see a need for advanced technical training or apprenticeships? What sort of innovative programming would you advance if given the opportunity?
| “
I know there is always room for improvement but we have one of the best CTE programs around and if you could see what these kids can accomplish and do you would be so impressed.[3]
”
What principles drive your policies for safety in schools?
| “
I don't want to have a knee jerk reaction but want to think it through and make an informed decision on how to handle best the safety in our schools. It is such an important issue right now. But if you look at all that have occurred some of the things people are throwing out there would not have stopped any of them. Our children need to be safe at school.[3]
”
How might you support the mental health needs of students/faculty/staff?
| “
Our district has made great strides in this area with programs for parents and students in the past couple of years. We still need to continue to improve. We should not have students bullied at school to the point of suicide. Our schools should not be havens for drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. We need to make sure these are not just brushed over but that we really take them seriously.[3]
”
What role do you imagine technology playing in (and outside) the classroom in the future? How would you prepare the district for this?
| “
Technology changes rapidly so we need to be fluid with our technology. Having individuals working in our district that are capable of adapting and keeping us as up to date as possible is necessary. We almost have to be one step ahead of the next best thing.[3]
