Joy A. Kramer
Joy A. Kramer (formerly Joy A. Moore) was a judge on the Kentucky Court of Appeals, representing the 6th Appellate District, Division 2. She served on the court from 2007 to 2021.
Kramer was elected to the court in November 2006 for a term beginning in January 2007; she was re-elected without opposition in 2014.[1] She was sworn in as chief judge on July 1, 2016, for a two-year term ending on May 30, 2018.[2][3] Kramer retired on September 1, 2021.[3]
Education
Kramer graduated from Morehead State University with an undergraduate degree, a teaching certificate, and a master's degree. After teaching special education for seven years, she earned a J.D. from Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law.[3]
Career
Kramer was the chief law clerk for U.S. District Court Senior Judge William Bertelsman for six years. She served as staff attorney for Kentucky Court of Appeals Judges Daniel T. Guidugli and Robert W. Dyche III. She also previously practiced law with the firms of Adams, Stepner, Woltermann & Dusing PLLC and Hoffman, Hoffman & Grubbs.[3]
