Joyce Mills Ward
Joyce Mills Ward was a judge for the Hamblen County General Sessions Court in Tennessee.[1] She was appointed by the Hamblen County Commission in March of 1996 and was elected to fill an unexpired term the following August. She was re-elected in 1998 and 2006. She retired on May 31, 2012.[2][3][4]
Biography and Education
Ward, a native of East Tennessee, was born on February 2, 1943. She holds an A.A. degree from Walters State Community College, a B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee and a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee Law School.[2]
Career
Ward began her career as a practicing attorney in 1977. From 1981 to 1992, she was a lawyer in the private practice. She then served as an Assistant Public Defender in the 3rd Judicial District until she was appointed to the General Sessions Court in 1996.[2]
