Juan F. Alanis is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. He was appointed to the court on April 30, 2018.[1]

Education

Judge Alanis earned a B.A. from Texas A&M University in 1992 and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1996.[1]

Career

Before Judge Alanis was appointed to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas he worked at the Texas Senate Research Center from 1996 to 1997 and Texas Workforce Commissioner from 1997 to 1998.[1] Judge Alanis also served in the Hidalgo County District Attorney's Office in Edinburg, Texas from 1998 to 2003 and the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of Texas from 2003 to 2018.[1]
