Juan F. Vasquez is an Article I federal judge on senior status for the United States Tax Court. He joined the court in 1995 after a nomination from President Bill Clinton. His original term ended in 2010, and he was nominated by President Barack Obama to a term that would have expired in 2026. He assumed senior status on June 24, 2018.[1]

Early life and education

Vasquez received an associate degree from San Antonio Junior College, specializing in data processing. He earned a B.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1972 in accounting. He earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1977 and an LL.M. in Taxation from the New York University Law School in 1978.[1]

Tax Court

Vasquez was nominated to the United States Tax Court by President Bill Clinton and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate. He joined the court on May 1, 1995. His original term ended on April 30, 2010. He was reappointed by President Barack Obama on October 13, 2011. He assumed senior status on June 24, 2018.[1]
