Juan LaFonta
Juan LaFonta is a former Democratic member of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He represented the 96th District after winning a special election in 2005 until 2012.
LaFonta is an attorney. He earned his J.D. from Southern University Law School and attended the University of New Orleans.
LaFonta is Chair of the Louisiana legislative Black Caucus, and a member of the Democratic Caucus and the Orleans Delegation.[1]

On November 11, 2010 LaFonta announced he would not be seeking re-election because of voter apathy and the "vindictive nature of the Legislature," choosing to focus on his private law practice instead.[2]

In 2007, La Fonta was re-elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives. He ran unopposed.[3]
