Juan Ramirez, Jr. was a judge on the Florida Third District Court of Appeal. He took office on January 2, 2000. He was retained by voters on November 4, 2008. [1] His term as Chief Judge was from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2011.[2] Ramirez retired from the court on April 30, 2012.[3]

Education

Juan Ramirez received his bachelor's degree and his master's degree from Vanderbilt University. After this, he worked for a Ph.D. in Latin American History for two years at the University of Florida. He received his law degree in 1975 from the University of Connecticut School of Law. He has written a number of law publications.[2]

Career

Juan Ramirez was a County Court Judge from 1988 to 1990 and then a Circuit Court Judge until his appointment to the Court of Appeal in January of 2000. As a trial judge on the Circuit Court he served in the Criminal, Family and General Jurisdiction divisions and was the Administrative Judge of the Appellate Division during his last year on that court.[2]
