An effort to recall Juanita Hollister from her position as Village President of Akron, Michigan was launched in April 2013. The effort did not go to a vote.[1]

Background

The recall effort was led by Robert Sode. In his original recall petition, Sode alleged the following reasons for a recall:[1][2]

  1. Lack of leadership ability, there-by causing the resignation of a police chief, DPW supervisor and a village council member.
  2. Fiscal irresponsibility causing the village to amend the budget up by $125,000.
  3. Attempted malfeasance by trying to charge the village a $60 meeting fee for talking to residents.[3]

Sode's first petition, which was filed in mid-April 2013, was rejected by the Tuscola County Election Commission for not sounding "factual." Sode then filed a new petition. That petition was schedule to be reviewed by the election commission in mid-May.[1][2]
