Biography
Juanita Jackson earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in 1988 and a J.D. from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 1997.[1]

- My top priority will be to expose young offenders to career options and opportunities. I will be incorporating career counseling and work/trade skills assessments into probation conditions. I have already began discussing having basic trade skills classes with representatives of the AFL-CIO. There are so many unique trades that do not require extensive advanced education. If more young offenders are aware of attainable career options, they can make better choices.
- Another issue that I will address is the ongoing problem with domestic violence. I plan to use effective training and reunification programs to help decrease the reoccurrence of domestic issues in our community.
- I am supportive of the current bail reform policies. As an experienced attorney that spent many years fighting for reasonable bonds for low-income non-violent offenders, the current reform was much needed. The fact that we no longer have people in jail for non-violent misdemeanor offenses truly helps towards true justice by assuring innocent people don’t just plead guilty to be released from jail and given their day in court.
