Campaign website

Lopez's campaign website stated the following:

Issues

In a city like Los Angeles, we face critical issues such as high sales tax, widespread litter, and neglected infrastructure. Political infighting between the Mayor and Council Members hinders progress, with blame shifting and a lack of accountability.

The current mayor, after the Palisades Fire, has shifted blame to others instead of accepting responsibility. Over a year has passed without solutions for residents to start rebuilding. Instead, the City of Los Angeles sent a billing notice for thirty-one dollars to residents for not complying with brush clearance rules.

Key issues facing cities like Los Angeles include:

  • High Sales Tax: This drives businesses and restaurants to close, affecting residents' choices between food, housing, and hygiene products.
  • Environmental Concerns: Los Angeles struggles with significant litter and trash, showing negligence from city leaders.
  • Infrastructure: The city suffers from deteriorating infrastructure, including potholes, sidewalks, and transit stops.
  • Housing & Homelessness: There is a lack of accountability regarding taxpayer funds. Many new apartment buildings are rising, but they remain vacant and unaffordable for low- and middle-income residents. Nonprofits, like the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), are not being properly audited.
  • Governance & Public Safety: Tension exists between City Representatives and the County Board of Supervisors, especially regarding the management of homelessness services, including LAHSA and other funded nonprofits.
