Dr. Juawn A. Jackson is a life-long resident of Macon-Bibb County where he works, worships and resides. A 2012 graduate of the Bibb County School District, he would later become the youngest ever elected member of the Bibb County Board of Education and most recently served as president. Dr. Jackson, a graduate of the University of Georgia, Georgia College & State University, and Mercer University, is committed to education and has spent his career reducing barriers to college access for first-generation and limited income students in Middle Georgia. Dr. Jackson worships at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, where he serves as chairman of the Board of Trustees.
  • OUR HEALTH CARE Too many families are struggling to afford adequate healthcare. I will fight for affordable healthcare for hardworking Georgians by expanding Medicaid to provide coverage to over 500,000 Georgians. I will always protect access to abortion care, IBF, contraception, and other reproductive health services and seek solutions to the maternal mortality rate in Georgia, particularly among Black women.
  • OUR MONEY Skyrocketing prices and price-gouging by big corporations are making things harder than ever for our families. I am committed to bringing down the cost of living and attracting good-paying jobs here at home and will work to ensure that every hardworking Georgian can afford the home they deserve.
  • OUR EDUCATION As a member of the Bibb County Board of Education, I have a proven record of results and know what our schools and students need to thrive: fairly funding our schools, giving raises to educators, addressing our teacher shortage, and expanding universal pre-K.
As someone who grew up in Pendleton Homes on the Southside of Macon, attended local public schools, and now serves on the Bibb County Board of Education, I am deeply passionate about ensuring every Georgian has access to opportunity and a high quality of life, regardless of their zip code.

I believe healthcare is a fundamental human right, which is why I will fight tirelessly to expand Medicaid and provide affordable coverage to over 500,000 Georgians. I will also stand up for a woman's right to choose and work to address our unacceptable maternal mortality rate, particularly among Black women.

Having seen the impacts of underfunded schools firsthand, I am committed to fairly and fully funding public education, raising teacher pay, t
I believe integrity, empathy, and a tireless work ethic are the most important principles for an elected official.

Integrity means being honest, ethical, and accountable to the people you serve. It's about making decisions based on what's right, not what's politically expedient. As a school board member, I've always strived to operate with transparency and stay true to my values, even in the face of tough choices.

Empathy is about being able to walk in someone else's shoes and genuinely understand the challenges they face. Growing up in Pendleton Homes and attending Bibb County public schools, I've seen firsthand the struggles that so many in our community go through. Those experiences drive me to fight for policies that will make a real difference in people's lives, whether it's expanding access to healthcare or ensuring every child receives a high-quality education.

Finally, I believe elected officials must have an unrelenting work ethic and commitment to getting things done for their constituents. The problems we face are urgent -- people need access to healthcare now, they need affordable housing now, they need good-paying jobs now. That's why I will work tirelessly day in and day out to deliver results and improve the lives of the people I serve.

At my core, I believe elected service is about putting the needs of your community above all else. These values of integrity, empathy and hard work are what I will bring with me to the State House as I fight to build a better Georgia for all of us.
At the end of the day, the legacy I want to leave is simple: I want to be remembered as someone who fought tirelessly to make Georgia a better place for all of its people.

I want to be known as a leader who always stood up for what was right, even when it wasn't easy. Whether it was expanding access to healthcare, strengthening our public schools, or ensuring every Georgian can afford a place to call home, I want my constituents to know that I never backed down from a challenge and always put their needs first.

I hope my legacy will be one of breaking down barriers and creating opportunity. As someone who grew up in Pendleton Homes, I know firsthand the power of education and community support to change lives. I want to use my platform as a State Representative to lift up voices that have been ignored for too long and empower the next generation of leaders.

More than anything, I want to leave Georgia better than I found it. I want our state to be a place where every child, regardless of their background or zip code, can get a world-class education. Where every family has access to quality, affordable healthcare. Where hardworking Georgians can earn a living wage and afford a roof over their heads. And where every community is safe, healthy, and thriving.

That's the legacy I will fight for every single day as a State Representative. And with the support and trust of my constituents, I know we can make it a reality. Together, we can build a Georgia that works for all of us.
I believe the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature should be one of collaboration, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to serving the people of Georgia, even when there are disagreements.

As a member of the Bibb County Board of Education, I've seen how important it is for different branches and levels of government to work together in pursuit of common goals. While the governor and legislature won't always see eye-to-eye on every issue, they should approach their interactions with a spirit of good faith and a willingness to find common ground wherever possible.

At the same time, I believe the legislature plays a vital role in acting as a check and balance on the governor's power. We are a co-equal branch of government, entrusted by the people of Georgia to advocate for their interests and hold the executive accountable when necessary. This means asking tough questions, providing oversight, and not being afraid to stand up for what's right.

Ultimately, the governor and state legislature should be aligned in their broader mission of making Georgia the best place to live, work, and raise a family. By treating each other with respect, communicating openly and honestly, and always putting the needs of Georgians first, I believe we can forge a constructive working relationship that delivers real results for our state.

As a State Representative, I will work tirelessly to build coalitions, find solutions, and ensure the voices of my constituents are always heard loud and clear under the Gold Dome.
If elected, the first bill I would introduce would be the Georgia Medicaid Expansion Act. This legislation would expand Medicaid coverage to over 500,000 uninsured Georgians, providing them with access to the affordable, quality healthcare they need and deserve.

Growing up in Pendleton Homes, I saw firsthand how lack of access to healthcare can devastate families and hold entire communities back. No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and getting the medical care they need. That's why expanding Medicaid has been a top priority for me long before I decided to run for office.

Georgia is one of only 12 states that hasn't expanded Medicaid, and we're leaving billions of dollars in federal funding on the table as a result. That's money that could be going to keep rural hospitals open, provide mental health services, and ensure new mothers get the care they need. It's unconscionable, and it's time for action.

Under my bill, Georgia would extend Medicaid coverage to adults up to 138% of the federal poverty level, unlocking a 90% federal match for those funds. Not only would this be a lifeline for the 500,000 Georgians who would gain coverage, but it would also create thousands of new jobs, generate billions in new economic activity, and provide a much-needed boost to our state's healthcare system.

I know that Medicaid expansion is not only the right thing to do, but also the smart thing to do for Georgia's economy and future. It will be my top priority as a State Representative, and I won't rest until we get it done. The time for action is now. It's time to expand Medicaid in Georgia.
