Judge Abramson resigns from the Family Court
October 18, 2010
Ballston Spa, New York: Judge Gilbert L. Abramson resigned from the Saratoga County Family Court in New York on October 15, 2010, about 10 weeks before his term was to expire. The resignation follows a failed re-election attempt due to a lack of Republican endorsement. Abramson was defeated by Jennifer Jensen Bergan in the Republican primary in September. David Bookstaver, a spokesman for the New York Office of Court Administration, said the reasons for the resignation were unclear. Republican officials claimed they were afraid of an investigation into Judge Abramson's judicial conduct, fears which Abramson claimed were unnecessary. It is unknown whether or not Abramson is under investigation, due to the confidential nature of such cases. An interim judge should be appointed to replace Abramson soon.[1]
