Texas: A temporary restraining order was filed Thursday against Arnasas County Court at Law Judge William Adams that would prevent him from seeing his ten year old daughter without her mother being present. The complaint was requested by Hallie Adams, Judge Adams' ex-wife, who detailed allegations of maltreatment and drug abuse. Adams filed court paperwork yesterday asserting his objection to the order.

The restraining order is the latest development in a controversy that began when Adam's older daughter Hillary posted a graphic video of him beating her with a belt back in 2004. Judge Adams admitted to the actions but defended their severity. Due to expiration of statute of limitations, he will not be prosecuted for the beating.[1] However, the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct is investigating the judge and does retain authority to remove him from the bench. For the time being Adams is not hearing cases.

William Dudley, Adam's attorney, released a statement in response to the restraining order in which he said the affidavit "is filled with opinion, conjecture, statements which are clearly not based on personal knowledge, and which precede the parties' final decree of divorce."[2] A motion has been filed by Hallie's attorney that would require the judge to undergo drug testing. A custody hearing is scheduled for November 21st and will determine what further actions should be taken.[3]
