Judge Campbell, facing claims of misconduct, resigns
July 16, 2010
Van Wert, Ohio: Judge Phil Campbell resigned on July 16, 2010 from the Van Wert County Municipal Court after facing misconduct charges and the suspension of his law license by the Ohio Supreme Court. He was suspended for 6 - 12 months for 14 violations of the Code of Judicial Conduct and Code of Professional Responsibility. After the Supreme Court ruled that he "failed to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary," and "behaved in an undignified, unprofessional, and discourteous manner toward attorneys and litigants in his courtroom," Campbell resigned. He had served on this court since March of 1987.[1][2]
