Judge Easter appointed to Anchorage Superior Court

ANCHORAGE, Alaska: Former District Court Judge Catherine Easter was appointed to the Third District Superior Court by Governor Sean Parnell on March 5, 2012 to a term that expires in 2014.[1]

Easter's appointment will fill the vacancy left by Judge Sharon Gleason when she was elevated to the United States District Court in 2011. Two additional positions created by the Alaska Legislature remain vacant.[1]


Easter's Biography

Judge Easter attended Seattle University for her Bachelor of Arts in French in 1981. She earned her J.D. in 1985 from the University of San Diego. Easter did a one year clerkship with Judge Brian Shortell in Alaska in 1985. From 1986 to 2007 she worked with the Alaska Public Defender Agency in Anchorage. In 2007 she began work in the Office of Public Advocacy in Anchorage, where she served until joining the District Court in 2008. In March 2012, Easter was appointed to the Third District Superior Court.[1]
