Topeka, Kansas: Governor Brownback, on July 20, 2011, announced the appointment of Judge Steven R. Ebberts to the Third Judicial District Court in Shawnee County, Kansas. Ebberts, current judge of the Topeka Municipal Court, will replace Judge David E. Bruns, who was elevated to the Kansas Court of Appeals earlier in the year. Ebberts, a 1993 graduate of Washburn University School of Law, first joined the Municipal Court as an Associate and Administrative Judge in 2003. Prior to that, he worked as a general private and public practice lawyer. The Governor stated, "I am pleased to appoint Judge Ebberts to the Third Judicial District Court. He has demonstrated his commitment to his community and to the Kansas judicial process during his years of service, both public and private, and I am convinced he will continue to serve the people of Kansas in this new role for years to come."[1]
