Judge Eiler suspended for "rudeness"
August 5, 2010
Burien, Washington: The Washington Supreme Court has decided to suspend Judge Judith R. Eiler, of the King County South Division District Court, for five days due to rude behavior. The decision stated that Judge Eiler had “interrupted litigants; addressed them in an angry, condescending or demeaning tone of voice; threatened to rule against litigants who interrupted or annoyed her; and otherwise failed to conduct herself in a judicious manner.” Four out of the nine Supreme Court judges found her guilty of violating judicial ethics.
Judge Eiler has served on this court since 1992 and was previously reprimanded for the same type of offenses in February of 2005 and April of 2009. Since January of 2003, she has had jurisdiction over the cities of Federal Way, Des Moines, Normandy Park, and Burien.[1]
