Alabama: Judge Don L. Hardeman has announced his retirement from the Circuit 32 Court. He joined the court in 1994 and was subsequently elected two more times. Hardeman will complete his current term, planning to step down in January 2013. This will leave his seat open in the 2012 elections, giving challengers an incumbent-free race.[1]

When pressed for a reason for retirement, the judge said, "I considered an awful lot of factors, but in the end, it just came down to the fact that I have a lot of personal interests that I want to get about doing. I’ve put them off for a long time, and I’ve gotten to the point where I can do some things now, and I’d like to pursue those."[1]
