Judge Leatherman appointed to Van Wert Municipal Court

Van Wert, Ohio: Gov. Strickland has appointed attorney Jill T. Leatherman to the Van Wert County Municipal Court, effective November 8. Leatherman, 39, is currently working as a senior claims attorney for Central Mutual Insurance Company. She will replace former Judge Phil W. Campbell, who resigned on July 15, 2010. She will serve until the November 2011 general election, when she must run for retention election by voters. Gov. Strickland commended the appointee, saying, "Jill’s professional background in private practice and serving the public as the Van Wert city law director have provided her diverse and challenging experiences that make her an ideal appointment to the Van Wert Municipal Court."

Leatherman began her legal career in 2002 as a private practice attorney. The following year, she became the Van Wert City law director. In 2006, she took her current job with the Central Mutual Insurance Company. She also serves on the board of directors for the YWCA of Van Wert County.
