Judge McKinnon runs for Supreme Court

Montana: Judge Laurie McKinnon has entered the race for a seat on the Montana Supreme Court in the 2012 elections.[1]
Background
Education
McKinnon holds a master's degree and is attending classes at the University of Nevada and the Reno, Nevada National Judicial College in pursuit of a doctorate.[1]
Career
Before joining the court, McKinnon worked as a prosecutor in Glacier and Teton counties. She also worked in private practice as a criminal defense attorney.[1]

- Member, District Court Performance Measurement Advisory Committee to the Montana Supreme Court
- Member, Judicial Education Committee[1]
Awards
In 2010, she received the Judge of the Year from the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Montana. This was awarded for her work with cases involving abused and neglected children.[1]
Filing for state offices will close on March 12, 2012.
