Judge Meyers reimburses judicial campaign for property taxes

Texas: Texas Court of Criminal Appeals judge Lawrence Meyers has reimbursed his judicial re-election campaign for $6,215 of property taxes that he originally had billed to his campaign. The property taxes were on a second home in Austin that Meyers used as campaign office space. State law requires that candidates itemize such expenses, but Meyers had listed the related expenses as a single property tax expenditure. Meyers filed corrected reports with the Texas Ethics Commission.[1] Lawrence, the longest serving member of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, is serving a term set to expire in 2016.
