Texas: Judge Bob Perkins is retiring from the 331st District Court in Texas, where he has served since 1982. The 63-year-old judge began his judicial career in 1974, when he was elected a justice of the peace for southeastern Travis County. He joined the county court-at-law in 1980, where he served until his appointment to District 331 two years later. A bilingual judge, he has advocated for the Latinos of Austin throughout his career. "I think I've made a difference in a lot of people's lives. I try to do the right thing all the time and try to follow the law. I am happy for the work that I did." District Judge Julie Kocurek commended Perkins, saying, "He's been great. We'll miss him."[1]
