Judge Riva retires
September 11, 2010
New Jersey: Superior Court Judge Joseph J. Riva retired from the New Jersey Vicinage 13 on August 31, 2010. He had joined the court in 1990 and served on the Civil Part from 2001 until his retirement. He is 63 years old.
Riva's legal career, however, will continue after his retirement. He will join the National Arbitration Forum, a private legal organization, as one of the arbitrators. "It's a new challenge. I felt that I was at the top of my game and I wanted to take advantage of this while I could," he said.
Superior Court Assignment Judge Donald J. Volkert Jr. said, "I have been impressed by his work ethic and his ability. He has consistently been a solid and dependable member of our judiciary family and he will be sorely missed."[1]
