BOISE, Idaho: Roger Burdick will become the chief justice of Idaho's highest court, effective August 1.[1] Burdick was originally appointed to Idaho's Supreme Court in 2003 by then-Gov. Dirk Kempthorne. Burdick has spent 30 years on the bench, serving as a magistrate judge in Jerome County, a district judge in Twin Falls County, and an administrative judge for the Idaho 5th Judicial District.[2] Burdick, who was unanimously elected to his newest post by his colleagues on the court, will succeed judge Daniel Eismann as chief justice. Eismannn, who advocated a four-year rotation for the chief justice position, will remain on the court.[3]
