Washington: Judge Jim Stonier is scheduled to retire from the Cowlitz County Superior Court on October 31, 2011. His retirement will make him the third judge to retire from Cowlitz County this year.[1]

Stonier sent notice of his retirement to Governor Chris Gregoire in April. His term is set to expire in December 2012 which means that his replacement will need to run for office next fall.[1]

Stonier has 40 years of legal experience that he will leave behind in October.[1]

He arrived in Cowlitz County in 1992 after 21 years of service in the Navy in the Judge Advocate General Corps.[1]
