Judicial philosophy
The phrase judicial philosophy refers to the underlying set of ideas and beliefs of a particular judge or justice that shapes his or her rulings on particular cases. It refers to the ways that judges interpret the law.[1]
Judges are at times described using political philosophy terms like liberal and conservative. There are other terms more specific to judicial work, such as judicial activism, judicial minimalism, judicial restraint and strict constructionism.
