Judith McConnell is a judge for Division 1 of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. She assumed office on October 3, 2001. Her current term ends on January 8, 2035.

McConnell ran for re-election for the Division 1 judge of the California 4th District Court of Appeal. She won in the retention election on November 8, 2022.

McConnell was confirmed as the presiding justice of the court on September 25, 2003.[1][2]

Biography

Education

McConnell earned her bachelor's degree in 1966 from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her J.D. from Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1969.[1][3]

Career

McConnell began her legal career as an attorney for the California Department of Transportation in 1969. She entered private practice in 1976 with the law firm Reed, McConnell & Sullivan. In 1978, she was appointed to the San Diego Municipal Court and was elevated to the Superior Court of San Diego County in 1980. She served on this court until her appointment to the Fourth District Court of Appeal in 2001.[2][1]
