Judy Shelton is a Federal Reserve Board nominee. President Donald Trump (R) announced his plan to nominate Shelton on July 2, 2019.[2] Her nomination advanced to the full Senate on July 21, 2020.[3]

Shelton's nomination was stalled on November 17, 2020, after the upper chamber voted 50-47, in a procedural vote, to limit debate.[4]

Shelton was a member of Donald Trump's presidential transition team, a group of advisors tasked with recommending presidential appointments for the incoming administration.[5] She was part of the Department of the Treasury landing team.

Biography

Shelton was born and raised in a Los Angeles, California, suburb. She had five siblings. Shelton studied at UCLA for two years before completing her undergraduate degree at Portland State University. She relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah, for a job at PaineWebber where she met her husband. Shelton received her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 1981, and shortly after, became a fellow at the Hoover Institution.[6]
