Julia B. Owdziej

Julia B. Owdziej is a judge on the Washtenaw County Probate Court in Washtenaw County, Michigan. She was appointed to the office by Governor Rick Snyder in June 2014 to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Nancy Cornelia Wheeler.[1] Owdziej was then elected to a full six-year term on November 4, 2014.[2]

Owdziej ran for re-election to the Washtenaw County Probate Court.
Primary: She was successful in the primary on August 5, 2014, receiving 31.3 percent of the vote. She competed against Jane A. Bassett, Tamara Garwood, Constance L. Jones, and Tracy Van den Bergh.
General: She defeated Tracy Van den Bergh in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 54.3 percent of the vote.

Education
Owdziej received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Michigan State University and a J.D. degree from the Detroit College of Law.[1]
Career
Prior to her judicial appointment, Owdziej served as the deputy register for the Washtenaw County Probate Court. She also previously served as an assistant prosecutor for Washtenaw County and as an assistant attorney general for Michigan.[1]
