Biography

Julia Hankerson was born in Cape May Court House, New Jersey. Hankerson earned a bachelor's degree from Lincoln University in 1977 and a graduate degree from Rutgers University in 1986. Her career experience includes working as a licensed clinical social worker and a business owner. Hankerson has been affiliated with the National Association of Social Workers.[1]

I started my career in Mental Health with Cape Counseling of Cape May County and then moved to the Woodbine Developmental Center as a Social Worker. I advanced through the Human Services system and eventually I had the opportunity to work as a Project Specialist specializing in Budgeting and Strategic Planning under the Administration of Governor Kean.

I have been a Social Worker for many years serving in many capacities; Developmental Disabilities, School, Home Health, Hospice, Dialysis, and I eventually became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and in 2001, I started the Woodbine Wellness Center, LLC which was a healthcare center that provided Psychotherapy, massage, reflexology, nutritional counseling and a full-service beauty salon. As the CEO of the Woodbine Wellness Center, I developed many first-time community activities such as an Annual Wellness fair, Family fun day, special mentoring program for 8th gradersand many others. As a result I was selected as The first Woodbine Shero by the Sam Azeez Museum of Woodbine Heritage. Also, During this time, I also gifted a Gazebo to the Borough of Woodbine in Memory of my parents and family.

I attended and graduated from Lincoln University with a BA in Psychology, from Rutgers University with a MSW and a from James and Jesse College of Theology with a Doctorate in Theology.
