I'm a dynamic, passionate leader who's spent the last 15 years as a self-employed consultant & coach, supporting leaders and the small companies they run to become more effective. That's my day job. My passion since 2016 has been community organizing and local progressive politics. I co-founded an organization in 2020 called Neighbors Who Vote whose mission is civic engagement. I serve on the Board of the League of WomenVotersofChicago.. I'm also now a candidate for Police District Councilor from Chicago's 2nd Police District.
  • I have a background in community organizing and restorative justice. These are the 2 primary responsibilities of this Council.
  • While it's certainly important to center the experiences of people who have suffered as the result of police abuse (which I have not), we also need people who know how to convene an effective meeting and otherwise effectively run the business of this Council.
  • As a coach, I have a strong ability to empathize with other people's perspectives. This ability to see the basic goodness in even those with whom we disagree is essential in doing collaborative work.
We need to create systems of safety and accountability that are based in the tenets of restorative justice, NOT surveillance, incarceration and vengeance.
This is the most progressive atrempt at police accountability anywhere in the country. While Chicago has tried many times to get the police abuses in check, including a federal consent decree, this is the 1st time that the people holding police accountable will be accountable to the voters.
Above all else an elected official needs to be transparent.
The election of Jimmy Carter, when I was 6 years old. I liked that he was a peanut farmer!
I'm a survivor of childhood sexual assault. As is true for many people who were violated when young, I found myself in many exploitative relationships over the years. Healing from that core wound has been one of the biggest struggles & accomplishments of my life.
