Julian I. Jacobs was an Article I federal judge for the United States Tax Court. Jacobs was nominated to the court by President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1984, to a term that expired on March 29, 1999. He was recalled to serve on senior status on March 30, 1999.[1][2] He officially retired on June 7, 2019.[3]

Education

Jacobs earned his B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1958 and his LL.B. from the University of Maryland Law School in 1960. He also obtained an LL.M. in taxation from the Georgetown Law Center in 1965.[2]

Judicial career

Tax Court

Jacobs was nominated to the United States Tax Court by President Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1984, to a fifteen-year term that expired on March 29, 1999. After his term, he was recalled to serve on senior status.[2] He officially retired on June 7, 2019.[3]
