Julie Cantwell was born in Owensboro, Kentucky. She earned a high school diploma from Apollo High School. Her career experience includes working in advocacy.[1]

I am a wife, mother, community activist, patient representative and the co-founder of a state wide non-profit organization. I currently serve on two state committees. Family, freedom, fiscal responsibility and fair representation are the cornerstones of my values. As the people’s candidate for state representative, I'm committed to upholding family values, preserving individual freedoms, and ensuring sound fiscal policies that benefit every citizen in this district and beyond.
  • I will vote in accordance to my districts wishes instead of special interests groups.
  • I will work on issues that improve my district and it’s people instead of divisive politics.
  • I promise to be accessible and listen to your concerns.
Affordable and accessible healthcare, fair representation, Veterans affairs, education, small businesses and personal freedoms.
The late Ky Senator, CB Embry. Sen. Embry voted the will of his constituents and never let his personal opinions about issues affect his voting decisions.
Integrity, transparency, accountability, responsiveness to constituents, and a commitment to public service.
I am approachable, outgoing, patient, kind, a compassionate listener and I possess a great work ethic and motivation for change.

I have many favorite books; one that stands out is "American Conspiracies" by Jesse Ventura. It prompts readers to reflect on historical events and consider the media's influence on shaping perceptions of the truth.

I've experienced similar personal challenges as the residents in my district, including issues like drug addiction, financial strains and family illnesses.
I believe the Governor and the Legislature should have a good working relationship as that benefits the people of the state.
The ability to work together in a bi-partisan manner for positive outcomes.
Beneficial, yes, necessary, no. In my opinion, the main qualification is to have the ability to listen, a good work ethic and the motivation for change.
Yes. It’s crucial that legislators work together to come to a compromise on issues that affect citizens.
Kolbie was a 4 year old girl who passed away in 2022. She was born with a rare form of epilepsy and her family wanted her to try medical cannabis to help control her seizures; with young children in the home, they were afraid of breaking the law and losing their children so they decided to fight for her right to use it instead of dangerous pharmaceuticals. She passed away before it was legalized.
After hearing a political joke, a guy says to his friend, “I don’t approve of political jokes.”

“Why not?” says his friend.

“I’ve seen too many of them get elected.”
Some argue the legislature should watch over emergency powers to prevent misuse, while others say giving direct powers enables faster responses in critical situations. It's a matter of finding the right mix between control and quick action.
That depends on the issues that are important to my constituents; however, a bill that removes straight party voting from ballots comes to mind.
Families & Children, Education, Economic development and workforce investment, State Government, Local Government, Small business & information technology, Veterans, Military affairs & public protections.
