Julie Fahey
Julie Fahey (Democratic Party) is a member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 14. She assumed office on January 9, 2017. Her current term ends on January 11, 2027.
Fahey (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Oregon House of Representatives to represent District 14. She is on the ballot in the Democratic primary on May 19, 2026.[source]
The Oregon House of Representatives elected Fahey state speaker of the House on March 7, 2024. She replaced Rep. Dan Rayfield (D), who resigned to campaign for Oregon attorney general.[1][2]
Fahey was born in Morris, Illinois, in 1978. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. She was a business consultant and co-founder of a human resources consulting firm for businesses and nonprofits.[3][4][5]
Before being elected to the state House in 2016, Fahey was the treasurer of the Democratic Party of Oregon from 2015 to 2017. She also chaired the Lane County Democratic Party from 2012 to 2014.[3] Once in the House, Fahey chaired the House Rules Committee (2023-2024) and the House Housing Committee (2021-2022), and served as House majority leader from 2022 to 2024. As majority leader, Fahey focused on "housing affordability, elections, ethics and democracy reforms."[3][6]
In a 2024 interview with Oregon Capital Insider, Fahey described herself "as being a business progressive, someone who has progressive values but with real world experience with businesses."[7] She added, "Some folks have said, 'Oh, you know, there’s no place for moderate Democrats.' I thoroughly disagree with that. Coming from a business background, I don’t necessarily conceive of myself as a moderate Democrat, but I’m someone who really cares that the stuff that we do works."[7]
In an interview with Oregon Public Broadcasting, Fahey said both Democrats and Republicans prioritized solving issues surrounding housing costs, education, and homelessness heading into the 2025 legislative session. She said, "So I think we are aligned on those higher level priorities, as we have been in a couple of the more recent sessions as well. And my Republican colleagues may have some different ideas about how we get there, but I really think that we can all agree that we’ve got to step up for the people that we serve on these key issues."[8]

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
