A vote about whether to recall Julie Farrell and Robert Mitchell from their positions on the Board of Selectman of Templeton, Massachusetts, took place on February 6th, 2012.[1] Farrell and Mitchell were both recalled from their seats.[2]
Reasons for recall
The recall was initiated after Farrell and Mitchell voted to fire Town Coordinator Carol Skelton on October 11th.[3]
Path to the ballot
700 signatures were needed to force a recall election. In November 2011, Town Clerk Carol Harris certified more than 900 signatures. A recall election was scheduled for February 6th, 2012. Voters were asked first whether one or both selectmen should be recalled, and then asked to select who would succeed the selectmen in the event of a recall.[3] Virginia Wilder ran against Farrell and Patrick Mullins ran against Mitchell.[1] Both Farrell and Mitchell were recalled, but Farrell is requesting a recount.[2]
