Julie Imanuel Brown was a member of the Florida Public Service Commission, the state body charged with regulating the state's utility companies. She was first appointed to the commission in September 2010 by Gov. Charlie Crist.[1] She left office in February 2021 when Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appointed her as Secretary of Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation.[2]

Brown worked as Associate Legal Counsel for First American Title Insurance Company from 2006-2011. Additionally she was Assistant City Attorney for the City of Tampa from 2004-2006, and an Attorney with Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, Limited Liability Partnership from 2000-2002.[3]

Florida Public Service Commission (2010-2021)

Brown was first appointed to the Florida Public Service Commission in 2010 by Gov. Charlie Crist. She was appointed to a second term in January 1, 2015 by Gov. Rick Scott. On January 2016, Brown was elected chair of the commission for a two year term.[4] She was appointed to a third term in 2019. She left office in 2021 when she was appointed Secretary of Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation.[2]

2015

Scott re-appointed Brown to the Florida Public Service Commission for another full four-year term ending January 1, 2019.[4]

2011

In 2011, Gov. Rick Scott (R) re-appointed Brown to the Florida Public Service Commission to serve a four-year term ending January 2015.[5]

2010

Brown was appointed to the Florida Public Service Commission in September 2010 by Gov. Charlie Crist. Crist stated, "Her past experience ensuring real estate agreements comply with all regulations, as well as reviewing proposed changes to historic properties as a member of a zoning board, have provided her valuable insight into the needs of Florida consumers."[1]
